Luke and Morag got married on a sunny day at Sydney College of the Arts. And they certainly know about the Art of Love!
Both love travel and they’ve followed each other around the world. Life has been a real adventure and there are many more adventures to come now they’re married. They picked a lovely spot to share their love story with family and friends, some of whom had flown in from overseas to join them.
Under a shady tree with the sun shining on them, they said their vows to each other. I definitely saw a few tears in the audience as I stood back and listened as they expressed their love for each other. That’s one thing I always enjoy at weddings – watching everyone’s faces, whether it’s the groom as his bride arrives or guests as we talk about the couple – it’s always such a joy.
Well chosen poems and readings can be really memorable and the one Luke and Morag chose had a great message expressed in a very nice way. So I’d love to share it with you.
The key to love is understanding … The ability to comprehend not only the spoken word, but those unspoken gestures, the little things that say so much by themselves.
The key to love is forgiveness … To accept each other’s faults and pardon mistakes, without forgetting, but with remembering what you learn from them.
The key to love is sharing … Facing your good fortunes as well as the bad, together; both conquering problems, forever searching for ways to intensify your happiness.
The key to love is giving … Without thought of return, but with hope of just a simple smile, and by giving in but never giving up.
The key to love is respect … Realising that you are two separate people, with different ideas; that you don’t belong to each other, that you belong with each other, and share a mutual bond.
The key to love is inside us all … It takes time and patience to unlock all the ingredients that will take you to its threshold; it is the continual learning process that demands a lot of work … but the rewards are more than worth the effort … and that is the key to love.
