Why have one wedding celebration when you can have two? Leanne and Katrina asked me to do their wedding all over again – but this time it was legal.
Same wedding date but one year later (so it’s the same anniversary), same wedding venue, same wedding dress, same wedding suit, same wedding celebrant, (mostly) same guests…. but new wedding cake, another wedding celebration and one very important difference – marriage equality.
In the 12 months since they celebrated their Commitment Ceremony, Australia voted yes. So when they asked me back to marry them legally, I also said yes – in a heartbeat!
It was a great chance to reflect on the past year, reaffirm the vows they made to each other, and add in the legal ones. And this time I was able to give them a marriage certificate; a piece of paper with enormous significance.
I was so happy about this wedding, on so many levels. It was wonderful to be back with everyone and renew friendships. These two are an amazing couple; they are so warm, genuine and friendly, and to be able to spend time with them again was very special.
Congratulations Mrs and Mrs!
