Choosing the perfect wedding gift is really hard (who needs towels and toasters?!) but Damien and Fiona received a truly original and awesome present – a song written especially for their wedding ceremony.
Their close friend Daniel took inspiration from something Damien said about Fiona – that she made him feel young. And so the title became “Stay Young”. It was the perfect way to round off an emotional ceremony, and there was an extra surprise thrown in when two friends stood up and joined in! They all received a huge round of applause. Having friends and family take an active role in your wedding is a great way to make your ceremony truly personal. It doesn’t have to be a song – there are lots of other ways to include people.
Damien and Fiona had written some awesome vows for each other, and there were definitely a few people dabbing their eyes when it came to that part! But as well as the serious moments, there was lots of spontaneous fun and laughter too – especially when they both high-fived each other at the end of the ceremony!
I love ceremonies like this where everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves, and we’re able to celebrate the love people have for each other is a way that really means something to everyone there.
Congratulations Fiona and Damien!
Damien and Fiona were married at Gunners Barracks in Mosman.
