Philippa and Karen marked their 18th anniversary and wedding day by throwing a pizza and prosecco party – and the whole town turned out to celebrate!
2018 was their first anniversary since marriage equality. So they decided to mark it by getting married in front of a huge crowd of family and friends by the beach in Thirroul. It felt like the whole town was there with hundreds packed into the surf lifesaving club. Every space was taken as Karen and Philippa said some moving and loving vows to each other that gained huge applause.
Even a massive storm with thunder, lightning and lashings of rain couldn’t dampen everyone’s enthusiasm and there was such an overwhelming atmosphere of love and joy in the room.
Afterwards, Philippa and Karen emailed to say,“We both loved every minute of our wedding and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being our celebrant. We couldn’t have asked for a better one. Your warmth and calmness made the storm outside seem completely benign. We felt safe and supported in your capable hands. You are very, very good at what you do and we are incredibly lucky that you could bring your extra magic to our magical event.”
