It’s always a nice touch if you have a personal connection to the venue when you get married – and Melanie and Joseph had a concrete connection to Sydney Opera House!
Melanie’s grandfather was one of the workers who helped to pour the concrete during the Opera House construction, which gave us a great talking point during the ceremony. When I told the story and introduced him to everyone, there was a wonderful impromptu moment when everyone burst into a spontaneous round of applause!
They chose the Utzon Room for their wedding, which somewhat surprisingly is the only room in the building completely designed by Jorn Utzon himself. The tapestry along the left hand wall is also one of his designs.
Congratulations Joseph and Melanie – here’s to many concrete years of married life!
