I’m not sure who was excitedly anticipating Kat and Leanne’s wedding the most – them or me! Either way, it was the best day ever. You could even say it was the Kat’s whiskers!
I’ve been following Kat and Leanne’s wedding updates on Facebook for a year, so I’ve been able to really get to know them. They are a couple totally and blissfully in love, who have formed a strong bond that’s got them through all the ups and downs of life. Finding love has also enabled them to find a sense of peace and stability, and especially for Kat, a long-awaited opportunity to feel comfortable and relaxed in her own skin. Kat has become very close with Leanne’s daughters and they have formed a tight-knit family. In fact, it was Kat’s mum who walked Leanne down the aisle, which just shows how close they all are.
So there was no shortage of things to talk about to help celebrate their wedding. They were so eloquent about their feelings which made for a beautiful ceremony that celebrated their love, reflected on their achievements, and looked forward to the future. They also choose a spot with lots of happy memories which added hugely to the meaning of their day. Leanne and her bridal party arrived in a London taxi (black but with a rainbow ribbon) and a throaty American classic which turned heads in the park! And their vows to each other clearly came from a very loving and happy place in their hearts.
This week, the ABS is sending out the postal survey papers for same sex marriage. I’d like nothing more to make weddings like this legal. It’s long overdue. But as I said to Leanne and Kat, their wedding was so much fun that we can do it all over again when the law changes.
Kat and Leanne’s Commitment Ceremony was held at Weir Reserve, Penrith.
